1st Vice District Governor Report

Since the last cabinet meeting it has been a busy time.

There have been two council meetings held.  The first in Edmonton, I had a one hour training session with the other 1st district Governors and our respective spouses.    During the council meeting you learn how the multiple districts are run and the process it takes to get everything accomplished.  The training with the spouses has shown that they are an integral part of the team to help me succeed in the year I am District Governor.

The second council meeting was held in Devon.  During the training session we did an exam sent out by Lion’s International.  The spouses also did the exam (they had not prepared for this) and they knew just as much as we did.   This has shown me that this will be really helpful for my term as they are just as dedicated to make sure it is a success.  Along with the second council meeting we attended the 60th charter of the Devon Club and the district L convention.

The planning for our convention is well underway and a new program Lions In Sight is starting to take shape.

I have also been around visiting clubs in the district trying to get the MMR reports up to date.  Along with the visits there have been numerous phone calls and emails.  It is starting to get this goal accomplished.

I had the opportunity to attend the opening ceremony of the Peace Poster Contest held a city hall.  Lion Carmelita has to be commended for the outstanding job she does putting this program together.  It is wonderful to see the talent that our youth have.

This is my report.
