Subject: Zone 2A Chairman's Report

From: Zone Chairman  James Lee 2A

Since my last report I have attended meetings in Okotoks, Blackie and Nanton as well as attended all but 1 meeting at my own Lions Club. Attended the Okotoks Interclub on November 16th which was well attended by all the 2A clubs as well as several others that included Zone Chairman Mike Doran from Zone 2B and several of his fellow Mossleigh Lion members. The guest speaker was Kevin Sykes an NHL linesman who regaled us with great stories and some funny sport anecdotes.

In my Zone all clubs seem to be working well and diligently pursue their various community endeavours and projects. Blackie is bringing 4 new members on board, and Foothills has 3 new prospective members, with 1 new member already accepted. Nanton seems to have a harder time recruiting new members as there are 2 other very strong service organizations in the area that are actively recruiting themselves. Perhaps a visit from Membership Liaison Marty Moulaison would help The Nanton Club devise new recruiting strategies and techniques.

November 26/09 is the next Zone 2A Meeting in Blackie. All clubs have indicated that they will be in attendance. The meeting starts at 6pm. and is followed by dinner at 7pm. and the regular Blackie club meeting to which we will all attend. Special guests include LCF-Dog Guide Chairman Edy Ongpin who will address all club Presidents and club Secretaries at the Zone meeting, and later will address the Blackie Club during their regular meeting, in order to get the word out about up coming Dog Guide initiatives. Also in attendance at the Zone meeting will be Dr. Rose Geonzon and Bruce Bishop both garnering support for their respective Vice District Campaigns.

At this Zone meeting I will be emphasizing the Officers Training School in Strathmore and just how much it aids and eases club members into the new roles and positions that they are assuming. I will also be encouraging all the clubs to attend the 37-O Convention January 15-17 in Canmore, as well as the leadership Rally in Claresholm February 19-21. I will also be impressing upon the Club Presidents and Secretaries to celebrate the Lions In Sight initiative for the last 2 weeks in January, as well as perhaps continuing ways in which to profile their club activities within the community. A reminder also for the clubs not to forget to send Bernie Gribbon any club activity photos or news worthy items for the Alberta Newsletter.

November 23/09 High River District Governors visit. Will introduce the District Governor Fred Walters and speak to the club directly about the upcoming events and campaigns.

Will endeavour to attend more meetings and Xmas parties , within the Zone, during the next month.

Yours truly, in Lionism

Zone Chairman  James Lee
