37-O 2010 Public Relations Campaign update  Date: Sunday, March 07, 2010 11:33 AM

Message to Clubs,

We currently have ads about Lions running on Page 6 in the Calgary Sun every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. The ads rotate between Youth Exchange, Project Pride, the Peace Poster
contest and the Lions Youth Camp. The Sun has been very helpful: our rep. got the ads in colour for the B & W price and was very supportive through the process of getting set up.
Please have a look and by all means let me know what you think.

We recently sent a letter to all clubs asking for contributions to the PR Campaign. To date eleven clubs have made a contribution and 2 more have made the commitment to help. We
have received just over $5,000 towards the goal of $7,500 which is what we have budgeted for the three programs we have on the go. Please bring the letter forward at your next
club meeting for discussion and consideration of the request to contribute.

Public Relations is important. The district committee's goal this year is to increase the district's level of commitment to PR. If you wish to increase your community's awareness
of your club and wish to find out more please let me know. There are numerous ways to get involved at the club level. Calgary Lions clubs set up at two Calgary malls in January
for Lions in Sight. This can be done in any community to great effect. In fact, the smaller the community the better. Strathmore Lions set up an organ and tissue booth at the
local Sobey's February 27th and 28th and many good contacts were made. We made some mistakes too but good PR takes practice.

Let's make more mistakes!!

LIONS CLUB OF CALGARY/STARS Annual Golf Classic, June 3, 2010

Dear Lions:

Our Lions organizations are proud to continue our tradition of supporting STARS. Lions were the major contributing factor in getting STARS started in 1985 and we are recognized for that service by having the LIONS logo proudly displayed on each aircraft. With the planned addition of two custom, state-of-the-art, long-range helicopters to the STARS fleet, they will be able to carry more patients and serve more communities.

Our tournament’s motto—"Saving Lives and Improving Lives"—recognizes the importance of our participation and the role STARS and Lions Clubs play in the community. Lions Clubs continue to regularly support STARS through donations and by hosting fundraising events at their local clubs. We invite every Lions Club in the region to make their contributions through one function in order to get maximum recognition through the print and on-air media. Each club would also be recognized for their donation with a certificate of appreciation from STARS and where feasible in their local newspaper.

We invite each club to consider one of our sponsorship types as well as participating in an afternoon of fun and fellowship at our STARS Lions 7th Annual Golf Classic on June 3rd to be held at Lynx Ridge, one of Calgary’s most exciting golf courses. All funds go directly to STARS but the total aggregate would be attributed to Lions Clubs.

A major sponsorship would be greatly appreciated; however, if instead you choose to sponsor a "hole or skill" prize or some items for the silent auction, your club name would be displayed at the appropriate site. C

asino funds can be used to support STARS.

On behalf of STARS and the Lions Club of Calgary, we thank you for your past support and invite you to join us for a fantastic day of golf on Thursday June 3, 2010.
